What is a Reiki Healing Treatment like at Sacred Harmony Reiki?

The client, removes their footwear at the door and is fully dressed, on a treatment table. A consultation always initiates the session as it is a very effective approach to the Reiki Healing Treatment. The consultation may last from 10/15mins to 30mins. It’s all depends on you and the nature of the session. The entire session is approximately 60 or 90mins, unless having an Express or Remote Boost session.

The practitioner’s hands are gently placed directly on the body to get maximum energy benefit, if you perhaps have an issue with touch, the practitioner can place hands above the body, please let them know. The practitioner will then proceed through several positions hand positions, beginning at the Crown, all the way down to their feet. Expect to spend the entire session lying fully clothed on a treatment table.

You'll begin on your back for the first half of the session, and then the practitioner will have you roll onto your stomach once they reach the foundation (feet) and have initiated the energetic flush technique so you can begin to release any tired, worn out energies.

Always make sure to tell the practitioner beforehand if you’re pregnant or can’t lie flat for some reason. You will be covered with a blanket and there are pillows for head and knee support, but there are also more blankets readily available if you feel a shift in temperature during the session.

The practitioner will never touch the genitals or women’s breasts (unless someone with breast cancer specifies that she or he would like that area worked on). There is no manipulation of the skin or tissue. Reiki is not a massage.

The goal of the session, foremost is relaxation, so it’s important, however, that you tell the practitioner if you need any adjustments at any point during the session. Many individuals report feeling a tingling sensation, cold or heat, during a session, and most enter a calm, relaxed state. In some, chronic or acute pain can diminish or completely vanish. Sometimes allergies and other conditions completely disappear. It’s different for each person.

It is important to remember that, whatever challenge we are experiencing, we did not get it ‘overnight’ and we are not likely to ‘recover overnight’, either. Reiki is not any more magical than any other modality or allopathic medicine. It takes time and commitment to enjoy long term benefits.

What can I expect after the treatment?

You may find yourself either very relaxed and feeling fundamentally “lighter” or feeling reenergised. Allow yourself a few minutes to come fully back into your awareness. You may feel so relaxed that you are spaced-out. Whatever it is that you need, is what you will experience. Be sure to drink lots of water after the session as Reiki is very detoxifying. You should sleep very well.

It is not unusual for people to experience a mild natural detoxification as the body adjusts itself to the energy shift. It is recommended that you drink some extra water so that the toxins are flushed out more readily. You may want to rest more, so please allow time for that. Doing some simple stretching exercises will help you feel grounded. Most people feel an immediate improvement in their level of pain and energy. An overall feeling of well-being may be experienced.

How often should I have a treatment?

This depends on what you are hoping for from Reiki. As a natural healing method it is good to allow plenty of time for Reiki to have an effect, so a series of treatments is going to be more beneficial than a single treatment in most cases. How many you personally need should be discussed with your practitioner at your first session and reviewed as you go through treatments.

Many new and existing clients have a series of four consecutive sessions as a start to tackling any chronic condition.

Having three or four sessions over a 4 week period are recommended. This helps to remove deep-rooted blocks in your energy system. Thereafter, once a week or once every two weeks is recommended, until the issue has resolved. Otherwise, or after this, one a week would be a good program. Some benefit is usually felt right away, but of course long-term conditions are likely to need longer.

Dis-ease generally begins in the energy field so if we keep our subtle bodies healthy using Reiki, and our physical bodies healthy with good nutrition and exercise, we should be able to remain active and whole. Once the initial issue has resolved, most people like to have ongoing Reiki sessions with me every 1-2 weeks, as part of their wellness regime.

If possible, go home and relax after your Reiki session. If you are unable to go straight home, try to avoid stressful errands or tasks — or build in a non-stressful buffer activity before returning to your typical routine.

How does a Remote Reiki or a Remote Reiki Boost Session work?

Just like a full prone Reiki Healing Session, the practitioner sets up the Treatment space as they would be expecting a client and creates the space dedicated to the clients needs and requirements.

All the client needs to do, is create a space in their home or office that is conducive to receiving the session at the agreed time. The client either sits or lays down (depending on time frame of Treatment), with light music playing (usually provided by Practitioner) and have their curtains closed, low lighting (candles) and if possible an aromatherapy oil burner or vaporiser. All external distractions, phones to be placed away and/or on silent. The client then gently closes their eyes and allows themselves to be open to receive the Reiki Healing from the Practitioners Reiki Treatment Space to them.

Once the session has completed, gently allow yourself to settle and give time to flow back into your daily life. Return the space back to its original condition and drink water. The Reiki session should leave you feeling very calm and relaxed. The idea is to bring this state with you, into your daily life so you want to get off the table in a calm, slow, deliberate way.

There is no video call or phone call during the actual Reiki Session, as this can distract from the focus  of your session, but a zoom/FaceTime/call consultation can be arranged before and after the session to ground and disengage.  Many of my clients have found the delivery to their personal space, where they are, in remote modality to be just as beautifully healing, profound and powerful with wonderful results.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki is a healing process that anyone can benefit from in the normal course of their life. It should not, however, be regarded as a cure for conditions. As a natural form of healing Reiki can support and enhance other forms of treatment. It has no contra-indications and is suitable for both people (and animals). Most people find receiving it extremely relaxing and calming.

Sacred Harmony Reiki helps to:

Provide relief from stress, anxiety, and depression.

Promote a state of total relaxation and peace.

Reduce or alleviate any pains.

Support the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Accelerate physical healing of injuries.

Balance your energy system.

Bring deep and restful sleep.

Promote emotional healing & mental wellbeing.

Assist the body in cleansing toxins.

Support allopathic and holistic treatment.

Reduce side-effects from medications, chemotherapy and anaesthesia.

How is Reiki a holistic approach to my well-being?

Reiki is a complimentary and not an alternative to your current medical plan. It is recommended that you continue with any medications you have been prescribed and continue to see your medical practitioner, or other holistic practitioners, unless you first speak with them personally. Reiki works in harmony and compliments all other forms of therapy.

Children, pregnant women and babies can benefit immensely from Reiki as it creates a soothing and comforting environment for the whole family. Most children are very open to the loving energy of Reiki and its endless possibilities and enjoy giving short treatments to themselves, their friends, family and pets. Reiki is very safe with no harmful side-effects.

What kind of person would benefit from Reiki?

Perhaps anyone open to change, since all healing involves change. And most of us are surprisingly resistant to change, however much it hurts to hold on to old patterns that no longer serve.

I have suffered or suffer from anxiety and stress - can Reiki help me?

Almost certainly, you would find great benefit from Reiki. Imagine just making time to lie still for an hour or so, relaxing in the caring presence of another person, with no expectations. Better than a warm bath, for sure!  And stress being the cause of so many other symptoms, you would surely notice other good effects.

Is Reiki Right for Me?

As Reiki is gentle and noninvasive, it’s really safe for everyone. People most commonly seek Reiki to help them prepare for or recover from surgery, manage stress and anxiety, cope with the loss of a loved one, or as an adjunct to professional medical care, like cancer treatment. Some people seek Reiki for support when they feel alone in dealing with troubling situations.

Reiki may be especially helpful if you haven’t seen results from other treatments or solutions.  Reiki may boost the effectiveness of other medical treatments by reducing stress, which can be a block. But Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment.

As the practitioner works, you may feel a warm, pulsing energy coming from his or her hands. You may feel deeply relaxed during the session. Some people fall asleep; others enter a deep meditative state. For this reason, practitioners will gently awaken people once the session is over. The Reiki session should leave you feeling very calm and relaxed. The idea is to bring this state with you, into your daily life so you want to get off the table in a calm, slow, deliberate way.

What Should You Wear to a Reiki Session?

Please wear non-restrictive, comfortable clothing that you can relax in. If you’re coming from the office, feel free to bring a change of clothes — just be sure to check with the practitioner before your session to make sure there’s a place for you to change.

Is Reiki suitable for children?

Yes, with parental consent, Reiki is suitable for children under 16 as it is gentle and can be adapted to a child’s need for a shorter or sit-down treatment.

Can Reiki help someone with a terminal illness or in palliative care?

People with a terminal illness often find Reiki helps them to feel calm and relaxed, reduces symptoms such as pain and enables them to prepare for death themselves and with their families. Reiki can also be offered to a person who is in palliative care and it has often been reported to reduce anxiety, bring calm and ease transition.

Can Reiki be used in conjunction with allopathic or conventional medicine?

Yes, it can. Reiki can be used safely in conjunction with allopathic or conventional medicine. It may help to speed up recovery times and reduce some uncomfortable symptoms, such as after surgery.

Can Reiki be combined with other forms of complementary medicine?

Reiki can complement many different forms of treatment and can often help smooth the healing process. For example after a chiropractic treatment people can sometimes feel stiff, a Reiki treatment will help a lot in releasing this discomfort. It also works extremely well in conjunction with homoeopathy, acupuncture and counselling and can help support any healing process.
